After returning to Bear's house, I often kept company with my roommates and exchanged work information with each other. One day I saw a Chinese massage shop recruiting new people. After sending a message to ask for basic information, I went for an interview the next day.
The massage shop is in Frankston, a train station 1.5 hours from my home.
The manager is a Taiwanese. She briefly explained the work. The massage shop is very formal. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to massage. They will teach you. You can start as an apprentice and practice while doing it. There are also exams and then you can slowly get there to become a professional.
Well, let me give it a try. At the same time, there was also a Taiwanese working holiday girl who was an apprentice with me, so we studied together~

The first thing you need to learn about massage: how to apply force correctly
The colleagues in the store are very friendly and willing to teach, and everyone invariably teaches how to apply force. When it comes to massage, most people will use their fingers to press on other people’s bodies, but in fact this will cause a lot of damage to their fingers. Just think about pressing 10 customers a day, each for 20 minutes, so there are 200 minutes in total. To prevent your fingers from becoming useless, it is recommended to use your body or your elbows. Use your fingers only when necessary, and protect your hands.
How to use body strength
To put it simply, it is to focus the center of gravity/power of the body on the fingers. It is difficult to master at first. It depends on continuous practice. Others practice on you, and you practice on others. Slowly feel the strength and the movement of the body. I feel very lucky. Yaya was willing to study and practice with me at the same time. After studying for about 2 weeks, we mastered the skills and could accept our first customer!
My first customer
The following woman was my first client. I still remember her 20 minutes of neck & shoulder massage. I dare say that day was the most intense and focused 20 minutes for me. I went through the massage steps I had learned, but the important thing is There should be a flow with the guest and make her feel comfortable and relaxed.
Fortunately, the customers are very satisfied! It is my motivation to study hard!

After practicing every day and accumulating a lot of practical experience based on customers, I, the apprentice, received a tip!
(1) This customer wanted to massage her neck for 10 minutes, which is my least skilled neck, I had no choice but to press it~ During those 10 minutes, I always felt that the massage was not good, and she also had some requirements. I have to massage harder and massage the head again to help. In fact, the neck massage does not include the head, but I just follow it. I ended up pressing it for 15 minutes.
When checking out, she asked me how long I had been having the massage. I thought she must have felt that I didn't do the massage well, and my face was gray, but she finally gave me a $3 tip and told me that this time you press well, I will look for you next time. I hope you will press better next time!
I didn’t expect that she would think I did a good job😭I’m so touched and happy😭😭😭I have to work harder💪🏻
(2) Celebrating my first regular customer! A regular customer came to see me again today! Too happy
This man came here for the first time last Sunday. He originally massaged his neck and shoulders for 20 minutes, and then added an extra 20 minutes for a total of 40 minutes.
Today he came to see a girl wearing glasses and pointed directly at me~~~
It’s really a surprise, I will remember him later! I think I am very patient and slowly help him open up his pain and feel relax after, hahaha~
(3) A customer went to the flower shop next door to buy flowers for me after paying. Thank you for the customer's affirmation!
And because of this job, I met a group of good Taiwanese/Malaysian/Chinese friends, had a lot of dinners, and moved twice, that’s why I stay in Melbourne for 8 months.... (To be continued )
It’s time to say goodbye to my fellow apprentices!
