My first job : Milking cows

I never thought that I would leave Bear’s house after only staying for two days.

Because I got a job!

It's to be dairy farm worker!

I originally wanted to stay in Melbourne for three months, but the sudden departure really put me at a loss. The reason was that I had a roommate from Hong Kong. She told me that she would have an interview for milking cows, and she said that I could also interview with her. Of course I was sure. For this opportunity, after the interview, the HR said that I could go to work the day after tomorrow, so I packed my bags that night and looked forward to leaving in the morning!

Melbourne →Warrnambool

After breakfast in the morning, we started the 3-hour drive. Listening to music and looking at the scenery along the way, the 3-hour drive passed quickly and we arrived at our destination - a farm near Warrnambool

Kitchen in the share house

we stayed in a double room

After arriving at the sharehouse, we did a simple cleaning of the house and found that the predecessors left a lot of food & gadgets, including ingredients and utensils for baking the whole cake. There are 3 rooms here, including 2 single rooms & 1 double room. We chose a double room and settled down, waiting for tomorrow to go to work.

Our working hours are divided into two timeslots a day, (1) Morning shift 6am-9am & (2) Afternoon shift 3pm-6pm
The manager is a local Australian, and there is another colleague who is responsible for driving cattle. In addition to me and my roommate, two girls, there are 4 people in the factory. We put on protective clothing and wrapped our hair that day (because the HR said during the interview that the environment was very Dirty) Put on your water shoes, and after a brief introduction, get to work!

There is a circular conveyor belt in the factory. The colleagues responsible for driving cattle will bring the cows onto the conveyor belt. We stand outside the conveyor belt and look at the cows’ tails. Our task is to put the four milking machines on the cows’ teats. The milking machine has a certain weight, and every time it is lifted it is like doing a weight-bearing exercise, but more importantly, the cows do not like to milk her milk like this (they feel uncomfortable), they will kick their back feet, wag their tails, and even Pooping while milking the cow😵And many times, I am right behind them. After 3 hours of non-stop work, the floor is covered with poop and its smell. HR said it was dirty, which is what I meant...

milked 8 buckets of milk in 3 hours

After going through a 3-hour morning shift with weight training and a poop fight, I washed my clothes a total of 5 times after work to really remove the smell. My roommate and I looked at each other and thought, is it so hard for me to have to wash clothes 5 times every day after work?? Why did the previous workers bake cakes when he had free time? Because the working environment was really dirty, my roommate and I decided that to resign because it was not a good fit. Therefore, I only worked for half a day in my first job. but I believe this milking experience will be remembered for a lifetime!

The work is over and I’m back in Melbourne! Bear’s home, I’m back!
